Seminar "Professional Communities: practice, the structure and dynamics"

On October 29, 2014, 19.00 the Center for German and European Studies (St. Petersburg State University – Bielefeld University) in cooperation with the Council of Young Scientists of the Faculty of Sociology, St. Petersburg State University are glad to announce the regular meeting of the open interdisciplinary seminar for young scientists “Scientific Environment”. The seminar “Professional Communities: practice, the structure and dynamics” takes place at the Faculty of Sociology of St. Petersburg State University, Smolny str. 1/3, entrance 9, room 229.

CGES session “Dimensions of Studying and Building Innovation Clusters: European Lessons” at the conference in Tomsk

On September 12, 2014 together with the Department of International Competitiveness and Network Interactions of the Institute of Economics, Russian Academy of Sciences, CGES held a session “Dimensions of Studying and Building Innovation Clusters: European Lessons” at “The Triple Helix and Innovation-Based Economic Growth: New Fronties and Solutions” in Tomsk, Russia. The session was co-chaired by Nikita Basov and Nataliya Smorodinskaya.

At the session Nikita Basov and Vera Minina presented a joint paper “Interpersonal Networks in Science, Education and Business Collaboration: The Case of Maritime Cluster of Algarve, Portugal”. The results of formal network analysis demonstrate that emotional aspect of interpersonal interactions is more important for establishing partnerships between science, education and business than intectual influence or frequency of contacts between employees.

Interdisciplinary seminar Scientific Environment invites presentations of research projects by junior researchers for 2014 autumn session.

We are looking forward to applications by junior researchers working in the field of social sciences, with no restriction to subject area or academic qualification (MA or PhD students, junior scientists with an academic degree, as well as junior lecturers are all welcome).

Deadline for applications: September 14, 2014.

MA SES is a 2-year program which offers a comparative perspective on the social, political, economic and cultural dimensions of contemporary European societies.

It is run by St. Petersburg State University, Russia in cooperation with Bielefeld University, Germany; the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD); and the Center for German and European Studies (St Petersburg – Bielefeld).
