Political Network Organization in Germany: Case Study of “Left Forum Paderborn”

The research aims at the study of the historical, social and political background of the political network organization “Left Forum Paderborn” (“Linkes Forum Paderborn”), which was initiated by former members of different political parties and activists who were disappointed with traditional forms of political engagement in hierarchical party organizations. The research objectives include the understanding of the specific network structure and personal relations within it, the source of integration of participants, the interplay between network structure and campaigns, involvement of social ties and social capital available in the local community, political decision making process, coordination of activities and control within such organization.

The empirical research in Germany was carried out in September 2012. As a final result, an article is planned to be published in the CGES Working Papers series in 2013.
